The Islamic Enlightenment Society (Al-Taweya ) was established in 1972 as the first and largest Islamic Society in Bahrain with a particular orientation towards the followers of the doctrine of the holy household (peace be upon them) .

It was established, then administered by a group of renowned Islamic scholars as well as thinkers and devoted believers.

The Executive Committees that served the society in the past and are still serving it in the current and future tenures strive to maintain the principle taught by Prophet Mohammed and his holy household as well as follow the guidelines of the Islamic Scholars for the sole purpose of promoting the religious, social and cultural status of the followers of the holy household In particular and the Bahraini society in general.
